Brownfield Coordinator
Shannon currently manages the Georgia Brownfield Unit, which is administered in the EPD’s Land Protection Branch’s Response and Remediation Program. As the Brownfield Coordinator, she manages the technical and regulatory requirements of the Program while still meeting redevelopment needs. The Georgia Brownfield Program oversees the voluntary investigations and cleanups of brownfield properties pursuant to the Georgia Brownfield Act. The Program also certifies eligible brownfield costs for property tax abatement. Prior to becoming Georgia’s Brownfield Coordinator, she served as an environmental engineer in EPD’s Hazardous Waste Management Program and later the Brownfield Program. Prior to joining EPD, she worked as an as an environmental consultant for the US Environmental Protection Agency Region IV in support of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Shannon holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Civil and Environmental Engineering. But, she was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
