Joe Wong leads Arq’s technology, product development, and commercialization initiatives for activated carbons in purification and contaminant control applications. With over 37 years of global industrial leadership, Joe brings deep expertise in activated carbon, R&D, market development, and M&A. His experience spans senior roles at MeadWestvaco, where he led acquisitions, R&D, and business growth across packaging and specialty chemicals, and in consulting, where he drove financial and operational improvements for Fortune 100 clients and private equity firms. Joe has worked extensively across Europe and Asia and serves on the External Advisory Board for the University of South Carolina’s Department of Chemical.  Joe blends strong technical knowledge with business acumen to deliver sustainable, science-based solutions and breakthrough innovations. He received his PhD. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
